We watched their to-and-fro-ing

Like a bowl of warm dough growing

Or a belly’s gladly bulging button beaming breached and glowing

A ripe rotating spectacle

Suspended by the flowing

And the fondly draped attention

Of a mass of rolley-pollies

Finally I can say

If but for today

I’m okay

And they’re okay

Don’t

I navigate towards different faces

Shredded butterflies escape my spaces

And I can’t lie; I make sure your name is glowing

several times daily.

But I can lie and I do try

So never mind my maybes

And my fading eyes.

Just don’t give up on me.

Another rather silly and spontaneously created poem. Aaron helped me write it again. He contributed one line, which I later took out—but it helped inspire the direction.

Windswept

Windspray at my wings

Shipwrecked, ocean-weathered

broken glass, and bits of string

A rigging rope untethered

A twisted siren’s song

The un-stopped ear to listen

Reeling, wrestling in the waves

The jagged rocks to christen

Worldberry Web

The world

Spins as a spider spins a web

As a strawberry spat red

Turning, wasting, until it’s slow, sure

Death

Engulfed

Darkness tears at my insides

The scarlet moon shines on my soul

The shadow shark feeds on my brain

The kidnapped youth seeps, pours

From every darkened corner of my being

Screaming, crying, pleading

For the icecream cone of childhood

That somehow melted away

Into a puddle of crimson blood

Never to be savored again

Happy as a Clam

The fans spin so brightly

Heaven’s ceiling is near

And you can hold me tightly

I will never fear

Like a bear who eats warm honey

Or a fat man with a beer

Happiness surrounds me

There will never be a tear

A monicor for every piece

of marmalade between my teeth

I marvel markedly at speed

and on the wall a dog-free leash

Does it make more sense to bleed

or fight or pray or bite or leave?

I might just take this kite to breeze

where there’s some room to sneeze.

This is a poem I wrote about a cello. I don’t really like poetry. I don’t think I’m good at it:

Leaning in
To the slick red wood
Swaying like cherry trees
Feverishly pulling
Drawing out
Moving as music
In motion
